The Art of Throwing a Disc

Regaurdless of wether you're throwing with a friend or at an object, nothing beats watching a disc FLY! To get a disc to fly where you want it to, a thrower needs to consider the type of disc being thrown and  a couple of critical elements of disc flight.

Discs come in all shapes and sizes. The ones you get for free are light, small, and break easy. Discs meant to be caught are typically the biggest with a deep rim. And the ones meant for being thrown hard and far are small, heavy, and made of durable plastics.

The critical elements of disc flight are forward speed, spin, and angle of release. FS deals with how fast you move your arm forward during the throw. Spin is generated through a snap of the wrist upon release. When the disc leaves your hand, the angle of it relative to the ground will affect its flight. Check out this great video for one of our disc manufactures to get a better understanding of some of the basics.
